I only recently switched to a MacBook Pro. And now that I have one I can't remember why I didn't switch earlier and the new battery system would probably not change my mind if I'll be in the store today.
Another thing that comes to mind in the battery discussion is BootCamp. I still have Windows running on my MBP with BootCamp because I make part of my living out of programming under Windows. Although, I'm about to move all to a virtual environment with WMWare Fusion I would appreciate some more energy management under BootCamp from Apple. Battery life running BootCamp is really poor!
