I was looking for an tool to manage some of my DB needs without always opening my browser and connection to phpMyAdmin.

These are the two "best" options I found. 1. Navicat http://www.navicat.com/ (paid) and 2. Sequel Pro http://www.sequelpro.com/ (OpenSource and thus free).

First off, trying to download a demo version on to the Navicat website I was already overwhelmed by the multiple version available. And then the process of actually getting to the download link was just a blur. Also when I was looking at the different versions and price tags, I got only more confused.

On the other hand, the Sequel Pro website is easy. Big button that says download and once you get there it also says Free!

So in the end I stayed with the Sequel Pro app. And once I'll be done playing around and doing my testing and get some benefit from it ... I will go ahead and make a donation.

There seems to be a active development going on and what I saw until know from the app is great. To me there is everything that the over expensive premium version from Navicat will do for you for free.

Maybe you could add this app to the list.
