Shave a little time off your workflow by using keyboard commands to Sleep, Restart or Shut Down your Mac.

Sleep - ⌥⌘⏏

Restart - ⌃⌘⏏

Shut Down - ⌃⌥⌘⏏

Display Shut Down Dialog - ⌃⏏

From the Finder:

Log Out - ⇧⌘Q

Log Out Immediately - ⌥⇧⌘Q

To add to that: Shift-Control-Eject quickly turns your screen off.
